Hello Artists,
Last week, in celebration of Black History Month we learned about and were inspired by the amazing artist, Alma Woodsey Thomas.
Alma, developed her signature style—large, abstract paintings filled with patterns of bright colors—in her 70s. She also was the first African American artist to have a show at the famous Whitney museum in New York.
This week I'd like you to go on a virtual tour of The Alma Thomas exhibit at the Studio Museum of Harlem in New York, NY. Watch the video below and enjoy the tour!
Supplies:
-radial paintings from last week
-red, yellow and blue paints
-paint brush
-water cup
Instructions:
Last week we started our Alma Woodsey Thomas inspired radial paintings. This week we will continue to make our small brush strokes in a radial pattern around our circle until the entire paper is filled. Some of your marks will go off of the page and that is OK. Be sure to fill your entire page!
I can't wait to see what you create!
💜
Melissa
