Welcome back! I hope you all had a nice winter break. This week in art we are starting some fun winter projects. Please check out your grade specific lesson for more details. If you are interested in making the instant snow we shared in the video I am leaving the instructions below. Fingers crossed for some real snow in our future!

Instant Snow

Supplies:

  • One Cup Baking Soda
  • Glitter (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of water
Instructions:

Mix the water into your baking soda and freeze for 15 minutes for an icy dough that feels like snow! Build a snowman, create a wintery scene or just enjoy the wonderful texture of your instant snow.

4/21 Art K-2

  Hello Artists,  This week we will finish our poppy art inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe. Today we are adding the wonderful details that we would see when we look close up at the flower, just like Georgia would. Take a look at the photos below of Georgia's poppy painting and a real poppy before we get started.  Poppy Instructions   (SafeShare link) Supplies: -flower shape (from last week) -black oil pastel -green construction paper -school glue -scissors -green crayon or marker Instructions: Today we will add the final touches to our poppy art. Gather your supplies and work along with me as you watch the video.  *Attention grown-ups: Please email a photo of your students finished artwork to me at melissaallen@thecottonwoodschool.org in order for it to be included in the spring virtual art show. 5/26 1st and 2nd Grade

  Hello 1st and 2nd Graders, Last week we started our salmon project by painting the cardboard cutouts. Today we will add some final details to complete your artwork.  Salmon pt2 (SafeShare link) Supplies: -cardboard salmon cutout -black and white oil pastel or crayon -school glue -googly eye Instructions: Today you will be adding the last details to your spawning salmon. You can use crayons or oil pastels (from previous lessons) to work today. You should also find a large googly eye in your art kit that you will add using school glue.
