1/6 Art 6-8

Hello Artists,

Before winter break we had been working with charcoal to explore value in art. Now that you have a good understanding of value I'd like you to try using what you have learned with paints. Check out some student examples below and then watch the video for more details on your assignment.

*Students: These supplies are being sent home at the supply pick up on January 8th. You can start the painting assignment after that. In the meantime, read over the instructions and start to brainstorm ideas for your painting.

Supplies:

-6x9 sheet of watercolor paper
-blue paint
-white paint
-paint brush

*These paints are NOT washable. Please protect your workspace with newspaper and wear clothing that is appropriate for using acrylic paints.

Instructions:

Today you will be using paints to create a value painting. Watch the video for full instructions. Keep in mind that you will be adding more details to your design with a sharpie next week. Be planning for what you will add. For example I painted mountains knowing that I wanted to add trees as my final detail. Keep your paintings until next week when we will finish with the last step.

I can't wait to see what you create!

💜
Melissa
