1/20 Art K-2

Hello Artists,
This week we will be learning about and being inspired by the amazing artist, Wassily Kandinsky who used music and color to make beautiful works of art.

Wassily Kandinsky was born in Moscow, Russia on December 16th 1866. He died on December 13th 1944, at the age of 77. He was a painter and a pioneer of abstract art. He is known for his creative use of color, and for his use of music through art.

Abstract art is modern art which does not represent images of our everyday world. It has color, lines and shapes, but they are not intended to represent objects or living things.

Listen to the read aloud below, The Noisy Paintbox by Barb Rosenstock to learn more about the life and art of Kandinsky.

Watch the video above and work along with me or follow the steps after watching the video.

Supplies:

-music
-black oil pastel
-white painting paper

Instructions:

1. Play some of your favorite music. Close your eyes for a few seconds and imagine what shapes and lines match the music you're listening to.

2. Continue listening to music while drawing shapes, lines and patterns on your paper using the black oil pastel. Fill your paper with as much as you can.

Keep your art in a safe place until next week when we will add color to it!

I can't wait to see what you create!

💜

Melissa
