1/13 Art 3-5

Hello Artists,

Last week we created a background and this week we will add the star of the show, a snowman! The fun part about this project is that we will be creating our snowman from a bird's eye perspective. That means we will be imagining that we are birds flying in the sky looking down on the snowman. How do we see the snowman as a bird? Probably a little differently then if you or I were looking at a snowman while standing in our yard, right? This is called perspective.
Perspective in art is what gives your work a 3D look rather than a flat painting or drawing.

Perspective –a technique that enables artists to add the illusion of depth to a painting or drawing.

Supplies:

-winter watercolor painting (from last week)

-scissors

-glue stick

-black sharpie

-snowman kit (went home at supply pick up)

  • card stock with printed circles (2 sheets)
  •  blue oil pastel
  • 2 foam stickers
  • orange construction paper
  • brown construction paper
  • patterned paper

Instructions:

Watch the video above for full details on how to put together our bird's eye view snowman. Follow my steps, but feel free to add personal touches- you are the artist of your work! Maybe your snowman will have a silly expression or be wearing fun accessories. Get creative!

I can't wait to see what you create!

💜

Melissa
