11/4 Art 1/2

Hello Artists,

This week in art we will be creating above and below garden drawings. This is where we draw a garden showing both under and above ground. Before we get started I wanted to share with you a story about a garden and a very big turnip. Listen to the read aloud, The Gigantic Turnip by Aleksey Nikolayevich Tolstoy in the video above.

Supplies:

-painting paper

-pencil

-black oil pastel

Instructions:

  1. With a pencil draw a line down the middle of your page. This will be your ground line. Everything below is the roots to your vegetables and everything above is the stem, leaf and fruit parts.
  2. Choose 3-5 garden plants to draw. Look at the photos I have included and begin drawing your plants using a pencil. Draw lightly so you can easily erase any mistakes.
  3. When you have completed your drawings, outline everything with a black oil pastel and write the names of your vegetable plants under each one.
  4. We will add color next week. Keep you art in your art folder until then.
This is a two part lesson. We will finish this project in our next art class.

I can't wait to see what you create!

💜
Melissa
