11/18 Art 7/8

Hello Artists,

This week in art we will continue to work on your recycled art projects inspired by Portuguese street artist Artur Bordalo, the artist who collects “waste” and “trash” to create, recreate and assemble and develop works related to sustainability, ecological and social awareness.

I wanted to share a second short film I found about the artist and his work. Please check it out before getting started.

This week you will continue to build your art sculpture using recycled materials. If you have not started and need some help here are some ideas of ways to create with waste.

  • Create a two-dimensional wall hanging using layers of cardboard/paper pieces…relief sculpture with a flat back and items glued on top to add depth/thickness

  • Create a wearable piece of jewelry made from unusual pieces of recycled materials

  • Create a three-dimensional sculpture of an animal, person, figure, insect, plane, train, etc.

  • Create a painting of a landscape on a surface made from Styrofoam or cardboard

  • Create an artwork out of aluminum cans by cutting them apart and using the metal pieces

  • Create a tote out of recycled bags or anything!

  • Create a piece of functional furniture

  • Create a wearable piece of clothing or accessory

This completed assignment is due Friday 11/20. Please share your final art piece with me through email at melissaallen@thecottonwoodschool.org

I am really excited to see your creations!

💜
Melissa
