11/18 4/5 Art

Hello 4th and 5th graders,

This week in art we will finish the water cycle drawings we started last time in art. Remember that your drawing must include all of the following stages of the water cycle:

Evaporation: This is when warmth from the sun causes water from oceans, lakes, streams, ice and soils to rise into the air and turn into water vapor (gas.) Water vapor droplets join together to make clouds!

Condensation: This is when water vapor in the air cools down and turns back into liquid water.

Precipitation: This is when water (in the form of rain, snow, hail or sleet) falls from clouds in the sky.

Transpiration: This is the evaporation of water from internal surfaces of living parts of plants (leaves, stems, etc.)

Groundwater: This is the water found underground in the cracks and spaces in soil, sand and rock. It is stored in and moves slowly through geologic formations of soil, sand and rocks called aquifers.

Runoff: This is the water that is pulled by gravity across land's surface, replenishing groundwater and surface water as it percolates into an aquifer or moves into a river, stream or watershed.

Supplies:

-water cycle drawing
-markers, crayons or colored pencils

Instructions:
  1. To begin, be sure you have drawn and labeled all of the water cycle stages listed above and included arrows to show the direction of the water.
  2. You can choose to color your drawing with markers, crayons or colored pencils. Take your time and do your best work!

I can't wait to see what you create!

💜
Melissa
