10/7 3-5 Art

 Hello Artists,

This week you'll be referencing the color wheels you made last week to help you create a warm and cool colored work of art.  Warm colors are generally colors that are associated with things that are warm: The sun, ovens, summertime, campfires and sweaters. Cool colors remind us of things that are cool: Swimming pools, snow, ice tea, rainy days, the sea and a breeze. Warm and cool colors are helpful to remember when you're trying to figure out what colors to paint or color your picture.

To start, check out the ArtQuest video below and listen to
Dajiah and Jacob discuss the difference in warm and cool colors.

Let's create our own warm and cool work of art! Watch the video above for more details.

Supplies:

-pencil
-a half sheet of paper
-black sharpie
-watercolor paints or markers

Instructions:
  1. Draw three circles on your half sheet of paper.
  2. Now turn your circles into something new by adding more features. Remember that the circles will need to be colored all cool or all warm colors.
  3. When you are satisfied with your drawing outline in black sharpie and erase any pencil lines that you can see.
  4. It's time to add color! You can use markers or watercolors. Remember to color your background the opposite of the colors you use for your circles. Be sure to color your entire page to really create the impact of the warm and cool colors together.
I can't wait to see what you create!
