10/21 3-5 Art

Hello Artists,

This week we will continue to explore the element of line by creating a zentangle pumpkin.

What is a Zentangle?

Zentangle - A Zentangle is an abstract drawing created by using repetitive patterns.  It is usually structured within a certain shape.  Drawing a Zentangle is entertaining, relaxing, and a great way to express yourself creatively.

String - A string is generally a random line drawn in pencil which creates an area within which you draw your tangles.

Tangle - In its verb form “tangle” means to draw a tangle.  You tangle a tangle, and in that process create Zentangle art.   In its noun form this word is used as a replacement for “pattern.”

This is a two part lesson. Check out the video below for more details and full instructions.

Supplies:

-sheet of heavy painting paper (in art folder)
-pencil
-black sharpie

Instructions:
  1. Following the instructional video above to draw a pumpkin or multiple pumpkins. Start with a pencil  and draw lightly so you can easily erase mistakes.
  2. Fill in each section of your pumpkin with lines and patterns. You can use the line idea sheet above to help. Think about filling your spaces with lots of detail to make it interesting to look at. Take your time.
  3. Outline all lines with a black sharpie. We will add color next week.
This is a two part lesson. The final completed assignment is due on Friday 10/30. I will be inviting you to share your finished project on Flipgrid. Take your time and do your best work!

I can't wait to see what you create!

💜
Melissa
