Hello Artists,

This week in art you will create a cover for your art folder. Check out your grade specific lesson for more details on this project.

Each week I will try to offer an additional and optional fun activity that you can do at home if you are interested in more art each week. This week I thought it would be fun to celebrate International Dot Day inspired by the book, The Dot by Peter Reynolds. To start listen to The Dot read aloud below.

I hope you enjoyed this book. It is one of my favorites.

Supplies:

-1 index card (from your art kit)

-markers, crayons or colored pencils

Instructions:

After you listen to The Dot it's time to make your mark. You can start with a small dot or a really big dot. Your dot may go off the card or you may fill the card with many dots. Maybe your dots will turn into faces or bubbles....it's up to you!

Hello Artists, Last week we started our snowman project by drawing a worm's perspective of a snowman, just a reminder this means we are drawing a snowman how a worm might see it. This week we will add color to the snowman and create a winter sky using watercolors. Supplies: -snowman drawing -crayons or oil pastels -watercolor paints -paint brush -water cup Instructions: Watch the video above and work along with me to add color, snow and a winter sky to your snowman drawing. Hello Artists, This week we will finish our poppy art inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe. Today we are adding the wonderful details that we would see when we look close up at the flower, just like Georgia would. Take a look at the photos below of Georgia's poppy painting and a real poppy before we get started. Poppy Instructions (SafeShare link) Supplies: -flower shape (from last week) -black oil pastel -green construction paper -school glue -scissors -green crayon or marker Instructions: Today we will add the final touches to our poppy art. 5/26 1st and 2nd Grade

Hello 1st and 2nd Graders, Last week we started our salmon project by painting the cardboard cutouts. Today we will add some final details to complete your artwork. Salmon pt2 (SafeShare link) Supplies: -cardboard salmon cutout -black and white oil pastel or crayon -school glue -googly eye Instructions: Today you will be adding the last details to your spawning salmon. You can use crayons or oil pastels (from previous lessons) to work today. You should also find a large googly eye in your art kit that you will add using school glue.
